NHI want Martin Nievera to apologize; Martin refuses to make apology

Its always been a big issue on how Filipino singers can sing the Philippine National Anthem.

Once more debate on the net rises when Martin Nievera delivered a different rendition of the "Lupang Hinirang" in the recent boxing bout between Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton at MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The National Historical Institute (NHI) is the first one to object on Martin's rendition. NHI's Heraldry Section chief Teddy Atienza slams Nievera for singing it wrong, no one asked for their approval on Martin's rendition and he is asking Martin for a public apology.

Atienza said, “Despite repeated reminders, some artists continue to make adjustments to the anthem, which is not an ordinary piece of music open to free interpretation.”

According to the law, "Lupang Hinirang" should be sang like a marching song. The Republic Act 8491, Sec. 37 futher states: "The rendition of the national anthem, whether played or sung, shall be in accordance with the musical arrangement and composition of Julian Felipe."

Martin Nievera refuses to apologize and felt that he sang the anthem “with respect, pride and lots of passion for my country and my countrymen. I sang the anthem like it was the last song I would ever sing."

“I didn't make fun of it or turn it into an R&B song. I sang it straight and only adjusted the last few notes to deliver my message clearly."

In another interview he said, "Well, it's gonna be hard for me to apologize for something that I am not sorry for".

Martin Nievera will sing the Philippine National Anthem in Pacquiao-Hatton bout

Three names emerges on who will sing the Philippine National Anthem in Pacquiao-Hatton bout at MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Lea Salonga, Martin Nievera and Charice are the front runners.

Yesterday in GMANews, Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao casually announced the singer that he pick that will sing “Lupang Hinirang” is the Philippines’ concert king Martin Nievera.

No words yet from Nievera's camp.

Jomari Yllana slams Martin Nievera, delivered a statement

Many thought at first that actor-producer Jomari Yllana guesting on her brother Anjo's new show "Cool Center" with Eugene Domingo will be the typical average interview and Jomari will not answer the latest breakup issue on him and Pops Fernandez but instead a strong statement was delivered by him slamming Pops' ex-husband Martin Nievera.

As I watched the show last night, you will feel the sincerity in his voice and the hate that he kept in the past few days.

In recent interview with Martin, he said that he want an explanation from Jomari about the reason of the breakup.

In Jomari's statement, he said, "I don't owe you any explanation nor am I accountable and responsible to you for my actions."

Jomari also fires up by saying Martin must stop putting his nose or meddling with the issues concerning him and Pops Fernandez.

Here's Jomari's statement:
"Ironically, Mr. Nievera, kami ni Pops, nag-usap na. We had a three-hour talk the other Monday. Kung anuman ang napag-usapan namin ni Pops, sa amin na lang yun. But I assure you that we settled the issues between us in a very mature manner.

"The love and respect we feel for each other remain. And salamat sa kanya, she cleared the issues surrounding us lately. And in doing so, she cleared my name in the eyes of the viewing public.

"After Pops and I talked, I remember telling a friend, 'Kaps, first time akong nakipag-break nang maayos. Walang samaan ng loob and I feel good about it.'

"Ang hindi ko maintindihan sa 'yo, Mr. Nievera, ay kung bakit ka nakikisawsaw sa naging sitwasyon namin ni Pops.

"When you and Pops had a conflict, I kept my distance. Labas ako sa naging issue ninyong dalawa.

"Mr. Nievera, I will always understand and respect that you no longer want to work with me. That is your prerogative.

"As far as my production is concerned, hindi kami nagkulang sa 'yo. In fact, we just made you and Pops, respectively, the highest-paid concert local entertainers to date.

"Mr. Martin Nievera, wala akong atraso sa 'yo personally. Tahimik ako na tao. Pero nung may patama ka sa akin, lalo na 'yong mga binitiwan mong salita sa PEP, hindi mo inalala na may anak din ako.

"Ilang taon ka na ba, Mr. Nievera? Ako 32 years old. I am trying to handle my situation in a matured way.

"Mr. Nievera, I find it strange and hypocritical na of all people, ikaw pa ang nagsasalita about Pops getting hurt. I may be wrong, but if you have some unresolved guilt within you, please refrain from using my situation with Pops para lang magmukha kang malinis na tao.

"Mr. Nievera, not at my expense.

"Now, Mr. Nievera, please bear in mind that you did not lose Pops because of me. You lost Pops because of you and who you are. And now, you are doing it again, by being immature."

At the end of his statement, Jomari apologized to the fans for choosing to remain silent about the split.

"Pops and I agreed to still be friends. And bilang respeto po sa halos apat na taon na relasyon namin ni Pops, I would rather remember the beautiful memories we shared, than make a big circus out of the breakup. Maraming salamat po sa pang-unawa."
This is a great debut boost to Anjo Yllana and Eugene Domingo "Cool Center", the show which is live becomes more interesting.
